Henry Ford II students showcase the world

Students in traditional dressThe world may be a big place, but Henry Ford II students recently were able to fit it into the school’s cafeteria.

The school’s Unity Club recently  hosted a  Cultural Community Night where the Ford II community was invited to travel around the world in the Commons with a passport Visiting booths for 16 countries. 

“We wanted to show people the traditions and food of difference countries,” said junior Massara Aboona, the club’s vice president. “We want to show people that we are all the same no matter where we come from. We all have traditions.”

The program featured performances by Albanian freestyle dancers, the Albanian group Rapsha, and Thailand dancers. Thailand spokesperson, Dr. Su provided twoinformational talks about Thailand as well. 

The 30-member unity club annually promotes events that promote cultural understanding in the school. The school recently hosted a fashion show during lunch.

Aboona said her club is making a difference.
“Every time we do something there is someone who is learning from it,” she said.
