With the new school year off to a fantastic start, Utica
Community Schools students have added to their strong record of
achievement. UCS students continue to outpace their county, state and
national peers on standardized tests.
Recent results for the SAT tests administered to all
Michigan juniors showed that on average Utica Community Schools were the
top performers in Macomb County. Eisenhower High School placed among
the top 50 high schools in Michigan.
The UCS score of 1055 also ranked higher than state and national average.
This is the first year all Michigan juniors were administered the SAT. Prior to this school year, juniors were required to take the ACT exam.
The college entrance exam tests students in reading, writing
and math. Results range from a base score of 400 to a perfect score of
1600.
The SAT is administered through the College Board, which
also administers the rigorous college level Advanced Placement program.
In addition to its SAT performance, UCS high school students
recently set new records in Advanced Placement participation and
achievement with 2,160 students taking 3,290 exams.
UCS offers 29 rigorous AP courses to secondary students.
The recent successes mirror the district’s achievement against state and national peers.
Other examples include:
- An average attendance rate of 95 percent, which
demonstrates our strong parent involvement and that students are ready
and committed to learning.
- A graduation rate of 92.4 percent, which is 12 points higher than the state average.
